  • Hot mix asphalt (HMA) plant:

A hot mix asphalt (HMA) plant is a manufacturing facility that produces asphalt concrete, which is a mixture of aggregate (stone, sand, or gravel) and asphalt binder (a petroleum-based material). The plant heats the aggregate and mixes it with the hot asphalt binder to produce HMA, which is used for paving roads, parking lots, and other surfaces.

In order to create homogeneous asphalt paving mixture, aggregate and asphalt cement are mixed together in an HMA plant at a high temperature.

There are several types of HMA plants, including batch plants, continuous mix plants, and drum mix plants. In a batch plant, the aggregate is first heated and dried in a rotary dryer before being mixed with the asphalt binder in a pug mill. The mixed HMA is then discharged into a truck for transport to the job site.

In a continuous mix plant, the aggregate is continuously fed into the plant and heated as it moves through the drum. The hot aggregate is then mixed with the asphalt binder in the drum and discharged into a truck.

In a drum mix plant, the aggregate is heated and dried in the drum before being mixed with the asphalt binder. The mixed Hot mix asphalt (HMA) plant is then discharged into a truck for transport to the job site.
